Lame Castle review (iPod/iPhone)

February 10, 2011

10 word description: Runner variation, save kingdom and princess, destroy the lame castle.

10 word review: 24 levels, 4 endless modes, great theme & graphics, entertaining bonus challenges.

It’s like: Robot Unicorn Attack, Canabalt, Monster Dash, yet with more variety and cute cartoon charm than all of those combined.

It’s better than: See above.

It’s not: A hardcore medieval battle sim.

Average game time: Levels are fairly short, maybe under a minute for each of the first few. Endless modes last longer than you would usually last in games of this genre. It’s a bit more forgiving with obstacle placement and speed due to the additional scoring challenges, therefore a bit easier (and I hesitate to use that word because it might put some people off) than other games of this type.

It looks good and runs well at 2x on iPad

Arcadelife verdict: All you want from a running game and quite a bit more too. Chicken punting even gets its own endless mode variation!
