Monster Hunter Dynamic Hunting review (iPod/iPhone)
June 6, 2011♫ “Shivers running down my spine, whose blood I know it’s mine ?
I’m a moving target and I can’t go home”
10 word description: Simple touch control one-on-one battles against huge monsters.
10 word review: Easy controls, extensive upgrading and entertaining combat. Fun fighting action.
You will like this if you enjoy: Monster Hunter (with the caveat that this is not a full, free roaming Monster Hunter game). Infinity Blade, which is probably what the fighting system most closely resembles.
The good news: Rather than try to port a PSP game, this has been designed specifically for the touch screen and it works really well. The monsters look great, the fighting is simple yet challenging and the upgrading system adds a level of complexity and depth.
The bad news: Fans expecting a full Monster Hunter experience may be disappointed by the seriously cut-down gameplay.
Arcadelife verdict: It’s impressive how well this works. Comparing it directly with Infinity Blade may initially seem unfair, due to the graphical differences, but once you get into the game, Monster Hunter has enough action and upgrading to keep you entertained for quite a while.
Overall, this is a good action game. Some may find it repetitive and at times slightly awkward, but then the same could be said about life, your job, etc.
Arcadelife rating: 88/100
