Incredible Express HD review (iPad)June 11, 2011
♫ “No force on earth can stop me now
I’d like to see ’em try
Hey, hey, ridin’ with the driver”
10 word description: Railway operating puzzler. 80 levels; lay track & direct trains.
10 word review: Entertaining blend of genre and theme. Rather intense casual puzzling.
The good news: Lots of variety, good basic concept consistently developed with the continual introduction of new features, attractive graphics, fairly addictive and replayable puzzles.
The bad news: The old fashioned feel of a train theme may put off people who otherwise would grab this kind of timing/coordination strategic puzzler on an iOS device. I could be wrong, but the more surreal puzzle themes seem to do very well. That’s obviously not a criticism of this game, just a feeling I’ve got about how game image affects the target audience.
Arcadelife verdict: This is a fun, challenging puzzle/timing game, although the Railroad Tycoon style graphics tend to make it feel much older than it is. There are some very big similarities with another fairly recent release, Choo Choo Steam Trains, but there’s enough difference between the two games for any train game fan to make room for both of them on their iPad.
Arcadelife rating: 82/100
