Dino Catch review (iPod/iPhone)

July 9, 2011

“And I used to sometimes try to catch her
But I never even caught her name”

10 word description: Place blocks to trap dino. Based on famous maths problem.

It could be the simplest ever turn-based strategy game. It's not. Don't get excited.

10 word review: Simple game. Would be challenging but for easy exploits. Update!

At this point, for poor dino, all hope is gone. Note the win/loss ratio. At this point I hadn't figured out how to cheat...

You will like this if you enjoy: Figuring out a couple of easy exploits to keep a perfect score…

Now I've figured out how to cheat

The good news: It’s initially quite interesting…

Yawn ... autopilot engaged

The bad news: … but only as much as one of the puzzles in a Professor Layton game. Once you figure out how to cheat (doesn’t take long) the appeal is completely lost, unless you’re sad enough to want to be top of the online leaderboards.

Brain the size of a walnut. Remember that...

Arcadelife verdict: Unlockable tile sets, just a couple of different colours, maybe some different dino characters, maybe even a variation to the gameplay? Add some of this and the game will exponentially increase in appeal. And fix the loopholes for cheaters while you’re at it.

And so on

Arcadelife rating: 45/100
