Order & Chaos Online review part 3 – levels 40 to 60 (iOS/Universal)

July 16, 2011

“I’ve got nothing to do, but hang around and get screwed up on you”

Sightseeing in the desert at level 40

10 word description: Questing and grinding, almost always solo, towards endgame of …. nothing.

A friendly sleeping dragon has some quests for you in the desert

10 word review: A decidedly anticlimactic end of an entertaining journey. Update please!

The symbols are used for crafting. After update 1 they no longer bind on pickup, but crafting is still a bit of a joke

You will like this if you enjoy: A change of scenery but the same meaningless quests as always, plus a considerable amount of grinding at the end.

This is award winning irony, as everyone who has had to grind from 57 to 60, due to an absence of quests in that level range, will agree.

The good news: Nobody (who enjoys RPGs or MMOs) can honestly complain about the value for money provided by the levelling and exploring in this game.

Strangers Roost. Often you will return here tagged for pvp and end up in a pointless fight against a humourless tool. They will claim to be "having fun". They're not, they're just being annoying for the sake of it.

The bad news: This game was released with no endgame content (instances, raid bosses, structured pvp, etc.) and the first update included “best armour in game” as in-app-purchases. Many problems that are constantly talked about on the official forum have not been addressed or even adequately responded to. Chat channels are not moderated and are a constant source or annoying and offensive crap apparently posted by nazi teenage virgins. Yes, you can ignore individuals or even completely turn off global chat, but there should be a better answer than that.

At this point, I have just reached level 57 on completing the final proper quest in the game. To reach level 60, there are only repeatable quests and grinding.

Arcadelife verdict: It’s still one of the most entertaining and engrossing games available, it just needs some serious attention in order to be what most people want it to be.

Sorry there's no screenshot of Chaos at level 60. Trust me, it would look exactly like this one.

Arcadelife rating: 80/100 – Yes, it’s dropped 10 points because there’s no endgame content.

Version reviewed by Arcadelife is 1.0.2

  1. Order and Chaos Online is a hands down evolution of the app store. (This game will probably inspire more MMO’s.) I really enjoyed reading your different reviews and walkthroughs for this game. I will admit to my countless tales with “humourless tools”, and possibly the odd rage quit from dying. What do you wish to come through the updates that hasn’t been announced? Thanks for the reviews
