Take Me Home review (iOS / Universal)

January 11, 2012

“So go now, or take me home
Take me home with you”

"Take Ho Me" is a whole different game entirely

10 word description: “Place objects to guide character” style puzzle game. 96 levels.

The first couple of levels show you what to do

10 word review: Attractive looks and familiar gameplay; no undo feature – rather frustrating.

You will like this if you enjoy: You know this type of puzzle game: you place some objects (ramps, bouncy things, etc.) with the intention of guiding the main object/character to a specific point while optionally collecting as many stars (or whatever) before it reaches the target. Drop The Chicken is a similar game, and quite a bit better in my opinion.

The good news: It’s quite pretty, nothing really wrong with the graphics. Music is ok. Sounds, although sparse, are also decent enough. There’s plenty of content at 96 levels.

The bad news: You get one chance to place all the objects, then you start the main bubble object moving and see what happens. If you want to make any changes, you have to reset the whole level and start again. This is painful, as often you might only want to make a tiny alteration to the position of one object, with everything else working perfectly. In a game like this, any kind of unnecessary frustration is a complete fun-killer. Please take note of this.

Arcadelife verdict: It’s got everything it needs, apart from the ability to make adjustments and, taking a tip from Donut Games,  the ability to save your best object placement for future tweaking.

I'm sure it should say "Score" and not "Text"
