Rune Raiders review (iOS / Universal)

March 16, 2012

“We are so fragile
They could give us a war just to keep us amused”

10 word description: Move your guys, then watch them come alive and fight – copied from app store description.

10 word review: Prepare for a thousand clones. New game, ton of fun.

You will like this if you enjoy: Casual turn-based party combat RPG-lite games in a package of 3-star rated missions.

The good news: New and different and at the same time instantly fun and playable. Great presentation, style and artwork. Amusing comments from the characters.

The bad news: There’s a bug (to be fixed in next update) that causes the game to crash at the end of a survival mode game. Note – this can be resolved if you turn Game Center on in the main menu. (It’s off by default).

Arcadelife verdict: Believe the hype, really. This could be the winning entrant in a competition to make the fastest, simplest and most entertaining casual turn-based game ever. The gameplay is rock solid and a huge amount of fun. Controls are spot-on and, due to the turn-based nature of the game, you have all the time in the world to tap the screen. The characters are good, upgrades are easy to acquire, survival mode is an excellent challenge for your ever growing team. You’d have to be a right miserable sod not to enjoy this game.
