10 word description: Timed word game. Two modes. Game Center leaderboards and achievements.

10 word review: Easy to pick up and play with rather limited gameplay.

The good news: Easy enough to get into. Screen layout is decent. High score chasing adds incentive to keep trying to improve.

The bad news: The two modes are very similar. The whole rack of letters changes after each word you make, missing the opportunity for strategic letter use while planning your next big word. If they changed this one thing, or added a mode where it was part of the gameplay, the game would be a heck of a lot more fun. Initial load and navigation between menu screens seem rather slow (4th gen Touch). No statistics apart from a high score for each mode.

Arcadelife verdict: What it does, it does perfectly adequately, and I’m sorry if that sounds harsh. I can’t stress enough how much difference it would make if the letters that weren’t used in each turn remained in the tray. It would add a much needed strategic depth to the game which, for now, feels much too simple and limited in scope. I can’t imagine that changing the game to retain unused letters, or to add a mode where this is the case, would be particularly hard. I’ll gladly change this review if the game is updated with this kind of enhancement. Trust me – the game would be a lot better for it!
